The Elementary Library
Elementary Library Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide students with a safe and comfortable environment in which to explore educational opportunities while fostering a love for reading. In addition to learning basic library skills, students are encouraged to evaluate a variety of resources. Students are stimulated to develop good-citizenship behaviors while completing curriculum-linked activities, which will develop critical-thinking skills, library enrichment, respect for self, others, as well as library materials.
The Fifth Grade Adopt-A-Shelf Program
Students in the fifth grade have voted in favor of the Shelf Adoption Program. Each student has selected a shelf of Fiction books for adoption. They are responsible for keeping those books in alphabetical order, using the author’s last name. A label with the pupil’s name on it denotes ownership of the shelf. Color-coding has been used to designate the different classes. The students are given time during library class and library enrichment to care for their shelves.
Updates to the Accelerated Reading Program!
The Accelerated Reading Enterprise Program is available for elementary students. AR Enterprise gives students unlimited access to more than 120,000 AR quizzes. As new quizzes are added, automatic updates are made.
Students, parents, and faculty can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books using the feature, AR Book Finder. Simply click on the link, type what you want to search for in the blank field, and click "Go." You will then be able to sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search. Happy reading!!
