  • As the beginning of the school year kicks off, we want to take time to review the safety policies and procedures at school. The safety of our students and staff is the highest priority of the District.  To provide schools an opportunity to practice emergency response procedures for a variety of situations, the students at Carlynton Junior-Senior High School participate in a number of drills during this year’s Safety Week.  The goal of the drills is to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries.

At Carlynton Junior-Senior High School, the following drill schedule will be followed:

    • Monday, September 19 - Severe Weather Drill
    • Tuesday, September 20 - External Threat Drill (Hold in Place Procedures)
    •  Wednesday, September 21 - Fire Drill and Campus Evacuation
    •  Thursday, September 22 - Reverse Evacuation Drill (Phys Ed Classes Only)

The Carlynton School District encourages you to have discussions with your children regarding the seriousness of being prepared for an emergency situation.  Please explain the importance of staying silent, listening to directions of Carlynton staff during the drills, and remaining calm. This will help to develop an awareness of the necessary steps in the event of an emergency situation.

  • U.S. federal law requires all males to register with U.S. SSS within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Many young men fail to register because they are unaware of the requirement and are then at risk of not receiving important benefits from state and federal governments.
Registration ensures eligibility for federal benefits such as:
    • Over $120 billion in federal student aid provided to more than 13 million students each year.
    • Job training under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
    • Over 2.1 million civilian jobs in the federal government, including nearly half a million U.S. Postal Service.
    • Joining the military.
Not only is registration important for access to federal benefits, it is also essential to our nation's security in the event of a national crisis. Please note: registration with U.S. SSS does not lead to enlisting in the armed forces.
Registration is quick and easy to complete with the following available options:
    1. Online registration: https://www.sss.gov/register
    2. Downloadable mail-in form: https://www.sss.gov/forms/
    3. In-person at any U.S. Post Office
