Principal's Message

  Carlynton School District
  Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students,

We hope you had a relaxing, restful, and rejuvenating summer! The maintenance and custodial staff have been working hard to prepare the building. We are excited to welcome students back to school on Tuesday, August 22. We look forward to having the entire community together again. Below is some information to help start the year in a smooth fashion.

Our Goal
The district focus this year is to establish connections to cultivate achievement. At the Junior-Senior High School we work to provide a safe learning environment where students can excel in the arts, academics and athletics. The first step to achieving this goal is simple. Students need to be present for school. While in school, we encourage all students to challenge themselves and put forth their best effort. We are here to help our students pursue their passion, achieve excellence and develop character. As a parent/guardian you have the ability to check-in on your child’s progress and coursework using PowerSchool. You can also communicate with your child’s teacher in PowerSchool and form strong relationships with the school. Together, we can help our students achieve excellence.

Student Schedules
Student schedules for the upcoming school year will be posted during the week of August 7th, 2023. Please understand that the schedule may change slightly in the next few weeks. Students will receive a finalized version on the first day of school during homeroom. If a student did not sign up for classes in PowerSchool last spring, the guidance counselors have assigned the basic core classes for the grade level. If a student has a course change request, he or she will need to contact Ms. Gallagher ([email protected]), guidance secretary, to schedule a meeting with your child’s guidance counselor. Students can also fill out a schedule change request in homeroom on the first day of school  to request a schedule change. Please note, not all schedule changes are guaranteed. For those who need a PowerSchool password reset, please send an email to [email protected]

Meet the Teacher Night
Please save the date for our Secondary Meet the Teacher night on Wednesday, August 16 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the junior-senior high school. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with teachers, walk around the building, and become familiar with the Junior-Senior High School. Parents can learn more about the diverse offerings of clubs, organizations and sports available to students in the junior-senior high school.  There is something for everyone to get involved in our Cougar Community!

Parking Permits
Parking passes for the 2023-2024 school year will be administered August 14th through August 18, 2023 at the Junior-Senior High School main office. Parking privileges are extended to seniors and underclassmen who have received approval by the building principals. Only students who have been issued a parking permit through the main office are permitted to use school district parking facilities. Students wishing to obtain a parking pass for the 2023-2024 school year should bring their completed paperwork, $25 cash or check, and supporting documents attached to this newsletter to the main office.
