On Friday February 25, 2022, the CDC published new guidance for school districts and communities to use while making decisions regarding COVID-19 mitigation strategies.  The new guidance advises communities to take into consideration the following three metrics: new COVID-19 hospitalizations; hospital capacity; and new COVID-19 cases. The CDC will now classify counties across the United States as high risk, medium risk, or low risk.  Each risk level has associated strategies and recommendations.  Using these new metrics, the CDC has designated Allegheny County as low risk.

The Carlynton School District has relied upon guidance from the CDC.  Therefore, beginning Wednesday March 2, 2022, students and staff will have the option of wearing or not wearing a mask in the building.  Although standard surgical masks will continue to be available to students, the District also has a supply of K95 masks for student use.  Principals will inform students on procedures to secure a K95 mask.

In the event parents are uncomfortable sending their child to school, the Carlynton Cyber Academy will be open for enrollment.  Parents interested in this option should
visit our webpage or contact Dr. Mantich ([email protected]pa.us) for additional information.

On Tuesday, March 8, the Carlynton Board of Directors will meet at 7:00 PM in the high school cafeteria to update the Health and Safety Plan to further align the plan with new guidance.  All other elements of the plan will continue to be implemented.  The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount and we thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
