Elementary students from Carnegie and Crafton will be participating in the 2016 Pittsburgh Marathon this year as Kids of Steel. They have been prepping for the run since January, working on cardiovascular endurance with a variety of running activities and exercises.
The youngsters will run in the Kids of Steel marathon in Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 30, starting at PNC Park and running through the city to the finish line on the Boulevard of the Allies.
The Carnegie runners, pictured, have been working with physical education teacher Susan Brossman to prepare for the race. Miss Brossman will be running with the group.
Crafton Elementary has 36 participating runners and they have been training with physical education teacher Josh Ficorilli. Mr. Ficorilli, guidance counselor Stephen Hope and teachers Andrea Ficorilli and Adrienne Monaghan will be running with the students.
